From the December
2010 Issue of Super
Streetbike Magazine
Story by: John
Zamora
In the classic song
One Piece At a Time,
Johnny Cash sings
about putting
together a Cadillac
by smuggling out
parts from the
factory in his lunch
box over a 20 year
period. When he
finally had a
complete car, he
ended up with a
monstrosity of metal
and misaligned
pieces. Custom bikes
often follow that
same road on their
path to completion.
Just like the story
in the song, as each
part is made to fit
a specific model it
won’t fit on newer
versions.
The R1 has been the
base for plenty of
cool customs over
the years. In 2009,
the big Y shocked
the motorcycling
world with its
MotoGP-inspired
cross-plane motor
encased in an all
new chassis and
fresh plastics.
Since the R1’s
reinvention, there’s
been a sprint by
builders to make
parts to turn this
race ready bike into
a show stopping
custom.
Roaring Toyz has
always been at the
forefront of the
custom scene and the
first to debut
accessories, often
before the bikes are
even available to
the public. RT’s
owner, Robert
Fisher, saw the
latest R1 as the
perfect platform to
adapt its line of
single-sided
swingarms. “Since
the first time I
heard it run, I
wanted to own one of
these bikes. I found
the cross-plane
firing order on
these engines very
interesting and
couldn’t wait to
ride and customize
one. I got the
opportunity to buy
one that had some
body damage for a
discounted price and
jumped at the
chance. We were
launching our new
billet single-sided
swingarms and this
was the perfect bike
to release it
on.”...

Roaring Toyz...
10 Years Past
Story by: Scott Odel
After editing
through some images
from a recent photo
shoot at Roaring
Toyz in Sarasota,
FL, I became focused
on one particular
image. SpeedTV.com’s
own Neale Bayly did
a couple of shots
sitting on the
newest creation from
Robert Fisher, owner
of Roaring Toyz.
Yes…it is a pink
Yamaha FZ6R, and it
was at that moment I
realized that “Pink”
is what brought
Neale, Robert and
myself together 10
years ago. It’s not
what you think, so I
better explain.
I had become friends
with Neale at a
chance encounter,
(but that is a whole
story by itself and
started
photographing for
him when he was
running the now
defunct
Motorcyclejournal.net,
a great outlet for
motorcycle
journalism. One
thing led to another
in the motorcycle
world and we ended
up covering an AMA
racing team
called…you guessed
it…The Big Pink
Machine. Robert
Fisher happened to
be one of the riders
that was riding a
totally pink bike
and we all ended up
at the Daytona 200,
my first time
photographing with a
team…in the pits.

Bridges needs no
introduction, but
what he did need was
a custom sportbike
to "Disturb Tha
Peace"
Robert Fisher,
President and chief
design guru at
Roaring Toyz Custom
Designs, started
with one of the
fastest production
sportbikes made, the
Kawasaki ZX-14. Next
he had a special
Roaring Toyz custom
paint job applied,
had all of the parts
chromed and tuned
the bikes ECM for
maximum performance.
Nothing was left
untouched, including
custom wheels,
Ostrich Skin seat
with "Luda"
embroidered, Billet
Diamond Cut Chrome
Grips, 4-2-1
Stainless Exhaust,
Billet Chrome
Mirrors, Chrome
Plated Fender Fins,
Custom brakes and
gearing.
Finally Roaring Toyz
outfitted Luda's
custom with their
240 Wide Tire
Conversion
Kit.

Unveil Roaring Toyz/Bike

MONTEREY, Calif.
-
Roaring Toyz owner
Robert Fisher and
Yoshimura Suzuki
roadracer Mat Mladin
unveiled the latest
creation from
Roaring Toyz today
at Mazda Raceway
Laguna Seca: a
custom Suzuki
GSX-R1000 built to
showcase Bike Gear
Warehouse. This
build marks the
first time that
Fisher and Mladin
have teamed up on a
project. After
meeting each other
at an AMA Superbike
round earlier this
season, the two
began discussing
ideas for a custom
sportbike to promote
Mladin’s new
business, Bike Gear
Warehouse. The
Australian
distribution company
will be carrying
Roaring Toyz
products, so the
collaboration was a
natural choice.
“Since I’m a
roadracer myself, it
was great to team up
with Mat. This
Suzuki is a custom,
but we utilized a
lot of performance
parts, making it a
true blend of
roadracing
technology and
custom style,” said
Fisher. Fisher and
Mladin unveiled the
bike in the American
Suzuki tent at
Laguna Seca Saturday
morning. Fans in
attendance were able
to get a poster of
the Roaring Toyz
Suzuki signed by
Mladin.
The Roaring Toyz/Bike
Gear Warehouse
Suzuki GSX-R1000
will travel to all
of the remaining AMA
Superbike rounds
this season before
making the long trek
to Australia, where
it will be used for
Bike Gear Warehouse
promotions. The bike
features a long list
of modifications,
including a Roaring
Toyz custom swingarm
that gives the bike
three inches of
stretch, Performance
Machine Mayhem Black
Contrast Cut wheels,
and a 240 size
Dunlop rear tire.
Among the
performance upgrades
are a Yoshimura R77
full stainless steel
exhaust, a Bazzaz
Performance Z-FI
Fuel Control Unit,
an Öhlins TTX36 rear
shock absorber,
Vortex Racing
rearsets, and Galfer
steel-braided brake
lines.
